چکیده

In a recent paper [1], Tanaka formulated and solved a model of CDMA multiuser demod-ulation by applying the theory of spin glasses, the replica method in particular. It is shown in the present comment that some of his results can be derived without recourse to the replica method; conclusions from the somewhat tricky replica method are justified rigorously. It also becomes clear that there is no finite-size effect in the internal energy for the MPM demod-ulator and that the structure of the phase space is simple; the latter goes beyond the local stability argument of the AT line analysis. The first of our result is a generalization of the identity m = q for the MPM demodulator derived by Tanaka using the replica method: The functional identity P m (x) = P q (x) will be proved for MPM. Here P m (x) (−1 ≤ x ≤ 1) is the distribution function of the order parameter corresponding to magnetization and P q (x) denotes the distribution of the spin glass order parameter. The proof follows the same line as in the spin glass case [2, 3]. The function P m (x) is defined as P m (x) = 1 2 N p+N β s 2π p/2 η t dr t ξ exp − β s 2 t

Code-division multiple-access multiuser demodulator by using quantum fluctuations.

We examine the average-case performance of a code-division multiple-access (CDMA) multiuser demodulator in which quantum fluctuations are utilized to demodulate the original message within the context of Bayesian inference. The quantum fluctuations are built into the system as a transverse field in the infinite-range Ising spin glass model. We evaluate the performance measurements by using stat...

Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems

Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

Channel Estimation for CDMA Multiuser Detection

In this paper, we derive and evaluate a demodulation scheme in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, which adaptively estimates hyperparameter (such as noisy channel property) based on Bayesian inference method. To avoid the computational difficulty from Bayesian inference, we resort the approximation which is known as belief propagation. We evaluate the performance of the proposed demo...

Multiuser Detection and Statistical Mechanics

We present a framework for analyzing multiuser detectors in the context of statistical mechanics. A multiuser detector is shown to be equivalent to a conditional mean estimator which finds the mean value of the stochastic output of a so-called Bayes retrochannel. The Bayes retrochannel is equivalent to a spin glass in the sense that the distribution of its stochastic output conditioned on the r...
